Artificial Intelligence (AI) Corner Update:
The Elvis Act passed and was signed into law in Tennessee to protect “voice” rights and fight AI generated name, image, likeness and voice content. The Generative AI Copyright Disclosure Act was introduced in Congress on April 9, 2024 to prohibit the use of unlicensed music to train AI. In April, SAG-AFTRA and record companies reached a deal over using AI in recordings. The Senate Judiciary committee held hearings on the The No Fakes Act.
Copyright Case Law Update:
In a motion for summary judgment, the central district court ruled the film Top Gun: Maverick, is not a copyright infringement/derivative work of of author Ehud Yonay’s 1983 article which inspired the original Top Gun film.
