Budweiser Lost EU Trademark Battle

by Tamera H. BennettPosted December 17, 2008

The BBC reports that Anheuser-Busch lost its battle to secure the mark Budweiser in the European Union to encompass all 27 EU member countries.  Anheuser-Busch does have protection in 25 of the individual EU states.

This is a continuation of the battle with Czech brewer Budejovicky Budvar over the names Bud and Budweiser.

See my original post on the topic here and see the article from Law360 where a panel of legal experts are interviewed regarding the ongoing trademark issues.

Thanks to attorney John Berryhill for the heads up on the decision.
